Nelson Grans to Grans, Nelson, BC have produced a CD entitled “Nelson Sings for Africa”. Local musicians from around the Kootenays donated their musical talents, while other technical experts came on board to guide the process. The musical selections depict the amazing array of different musical genres that Nelson is blessed with from: traditional folk to classical, from blue grass to jazz and choral arrangements to solo performances. These same musicians donated their time and talent to perform at the African Caravan event which came through Nelson in November of 2010. We heard back that it was one of the highlights of this wonderful tour.
We have been very happy with the response to the CD and have sold all but 150 of the original 1000 copies locally. Now we would like to offer this wonderful CD to the rest of our Canadian grandmothers’ groups. It is our hope that some of you might be willing to purchase in bulk for fundraising in your own local communities. Currently we retail them for $10. Any monies you raise would then be your contribution to the Stephen Lewis Foundation.
The CD is also featured on the Grandmothers Campaign National website.
