My thoughts behind the pew project.
"There is a book which lingers in my mind, its ideas tossing and turning like an insomniac on a long night. It is set in Burundi and is about moving forward from devastation, building on hardship, and the importance of education to bring light and hope.
This pew reminds me of the book “Strength in What Remains“. There is strength in the pew’s solid simplicity, honest craftsmanship and natural wood. And like in the book, circumstances change; and for this sweet pew transition is inevitable.
What is the strength in what remains? A writing desk emerges, symbol of education, symbol of empowerment, symbol of possibility."
